Why stick to notes?
Tune eight oscillators independently. Bring them in with touch pads, latch a few notes, or raise HOLD for a continuous drone. SHARP takes each pair from mellow to biting.
Eight individually tuned voices, tangled FM, a dual modulated delay, and distortion. Have fun with drones!
OctaVega
Inspired by a Russian drone synth with eight voices.
That synth gave me a lot of joy and inspiration, and was used in several of my tracks.
Tune eight oscillators independently. Bring them in with touch pads, latch a few notes, or raise HOLD for a continuous drone. SHARP takes each pair from mellow to biting.
Cross-modulate voice pairs in two separate FM loops or join all eight voices together. Add independent vibrato or shape a shared Hyper LFO, with optional host-beat sync.
Send the sound through two modulated delay lines and distortion. Explore echoes and resonant tails, then feed the combined output back into the voices for more complex textures.
Hands on. Keyboard is optional.
Play the on-screen pads or use keys 1–8. Hold Shift for a lighter touch, drag for pressure, and latch a voice to keep it sounding.
MIDI triggers the eight voices. TUNE sets their pitch.

Extract the ZIP and copy the entire OctaVega.vst3 bundle into your user VST3 folder:
~/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST3/
Restart your DAW and rescan its VST3 plugins. In Ableton Live, load OctaVega on a MIDI track, choose Organ, and play a pad.
The current development beta is ad-hoc signed and not notarized. If macOS blocks it, wait for a notarized release; there is no need to change your security settings.
OctaVega is a VST3 instrument, currently tested in Ableton Live on macOS. The Mac binary supports both Apple Silicon and Intel Macs. An Audio Unit version is not included.
The Windows x64 version will be added here once it has been built and tested.
No. Use the eight on-screen pads, computer keys 1–8 with the plugin focused, individual latches, or the grouped HOLD controls. A MIDI controller can trigger voices and control parameters through MIDI learn.
Each voice keeps its own tuning. MIDI notes select voices; the TUNE and group PITCH controls set the pitches you hear.
Yes. Route audio into the plugin and use EXT IN to send it through delay and distortion. Sidechain signals can also modulate voice pitch or delay time. The manual includes a worked Ableton Live setup.
